Wellington XV to face Lions
SUBS: Luke Mahoney, John Schwalger, Kane Thompson, Justin Purdie, Riki Flutey, Tamati Ellison, Cory Jane
on paper, this should be the toughest provincial side that the Lions will face yet.. Wellington is the host province for the Hurricanes Super 12 franchise, so most of its players should be able to last 80 minutes unlike the Bay and Taranaki.. will be v interesting to see whether Nonu can roar through that Lions midfield like he has done in Super 12 and in the trial.. Weepu and Fillipo are in the squad having played the game of their lives over the weekend.. can Gopperth match up against big Jonny? should be an experience he'll never forget..
and imagine if John and Mahroni were together on the field..
as for the Lions, time for redemption.. and also time to see Jonny Wilkinson, Jason Robinson, and Gareth Thomas in the Lions jerseys.. all big players with big reputations.. all with something to prove..
a great clash.. except won't be able to watch it live due to Leadership meeting and State of Origin 2.. even with the Lions, the famous league grudge match is still one of the most important games of the year.. go Queensland!! may be a bit tough in the cauldron of the Telstra Stadium, where NSW will be roaring to square the series having had victory stolen from them in Brisbane.. no Brett Kimmorley who was disappointing in State of Origin 1 but Andrew Johns returns for NSW, along with Braith Anasta and Craig Gower.. for Queensland, Warriors' Steve Price misses out.. which is a shame coz he is league's version of Martin Johnson.. another grudge match and hopefully it'll be as thrilling as State of Origin 1, when Queensland were 19-0 up at one point before NSW came back from the dead to be 20-19 up 2 minutes from the end of normal time, but Jonathan Thurston scores a field goal to square things and send the game into golden point, where Cowboys' Matt Bowen scores the winning try from an intercept..
