Auckland 13 Lions 17

A very strange game I thought. Not that it mattered to this guy from Auckland at the Brooklyn Hotel’s pub just outside the Rocks. And I wish they had Toohey’s New in New Zealand coz it is the best ale ever.. however they do sell Victoria Bitter, which contrary to popular opinion isn’t as poor as piss.. it’s prob the next best thing to Toohey’s actually.. and yes they do sell that in New Zealand.. hopefully tastes the same..

But to be fair, it would have been ironic if Auckland won this game, having not played at all that well when other provinces had probably played much better than them and yet lose by far bigger scores.. An exciting game nevertheless, but it probably lacked the oomph that it may have had if the Lions, let’s say, were still in contention for the test series.. as it was, the Lions showed the same symptoms that had dogged them all tour.. lack of cohesion and little imagination in attack..

The Lions would be pleased.. Auckland likewise, not forgetting that they lost their two frontline hookers to the All Blacks and their bench mainly consisted of young and upcomers..
