final words before the big game

just watched a cracker of Friday night footie on 9.. the young and talented Wests Tigers comprehensively beat a weakened Manly at Leichardt Oval 47 to 24 in a wonderful display of attacking rugby that wouldn't shame the All Blacks at all.. could have gone to watch the game on a very quiet Friday night but Sydney is still a bit too big for me and i'm not really a supporter of the Tigers or Sea Eagles.. plus i wouldn't have had the same comfort i would have had for a game at the Brook or even at Jade.. still thinking abt those jerseys at Mick Simmons..

good news with BBC finally opening a much quicker and superior Scrum V messageboard on their DNA server.. tried it already on Five Live and it's a cracker.. it's much faster and u never really are out of the discussion when u post ur topics, as they display how long ago that message was posted.. a bit complicated at first but p handy once u get the hang of it..

well will definitely be seeing the game tomorrow evening at 5 pm Sydney time in a pub in downtown Sydney.. quite a few showing them, with Sydney breeding a lot of Brits and Kiwis and also many other union fans.. it feels like an age since the last test.. of coz dint see the Manawatu game so haven't had a gap without rugby like this since.. the Super 12? just shows how special this Lions tour is..

i think Wellington is in for a much bigger game than the one at Jade.. All Blacks 1-0 up in the series, Lions MUST win or wait another 12 years - or never - to have another crack at them.. and they have made changes which i actually approve.. it's not merely just appeasing Celts, but rather picking a starting XV with players who are actually on form and on their game, like Ryan Jones, Simon Easterby, Shane Williams, etc.. and i think the All Blacks have got to be on top of their game otherwise they'll get one heck of a shock on Saturday night.. those Celts will be out to prove that the game up North is strong..

i remember before that fateful game in the World Cup two years ago, saying that the only thing that can lose the All Blacks the World Cup Final, was complacency.. turns out i was partly right but they were also let down by a team which overturned the rug on them dramatically by playing their game and playing with a great deal of intensity.. the Lions can play an exciting brand of rugby as seen against Taranaki and in bits and pieces throughout the tour, but have just been unable to coz of the intensity that the provinces and All Blacks have put up.. it would be hard to put up a winning gameplan when really ur team hasn't exactly played well, and u don't quite have the personnel.. but hey it's sport, and there can be surprises..

after the game at Jade, I was pretty confident the All Blacks would whitewash the Lions from now on.. I'm still p sure that will happen coz Henry will make sure his men improve, and with p good weather conditions, the All Blacks should be able to finish more attacking moves than they did in the previous game.. as ppl said, if it hadn't hailed, the All Blacks may have been 40 to 50 points up.. it can happen again, but might be tougher with this group of young and determined Celts rather than a bunch of old and been-there-done-that Englishmen..

so a much tighter game, but a showpiece for union.. speaking of which, will check out one of the showpieces of Australian cricket, the Sydney Cricket Ground and maybe the Olympic Park at Homebush soon.. just Sydney is p big.. oh and got Brad Fittler's biography and from a couple of random reads through it, i think it's gonna be brilliant.. Freddie's always been the type of player i would admire and even though he's now retired from league, he's still a good bloke..
