Lions XV to face Taranaki

Graham Rowntree, Andy Titterill, John Hayes, Donnacha O'Callaghan, Danny Grewcock, Martin Corry(captain), Lewis Moody, Michael Owen, Chris Cusiter, Charlie Hodgson, Denis Hickie, Ollie Smith, Will Greenwood, Shane Horgan, Geordan Murphy

SUBS: Shane Byrne, Gethin Jenkins, Ben Kay, Martyn Williams, Gareth Cooper, Jonny Wilkinson, Gavin Henson

reading the subs line, surprised how many from the Bay game are featuring in this game, i.e. Jenkins, Williams, Henson.. of coz we've got absentees in Stephen Jones, Gareth Thomas, Jason Robinson, Lawrence Dallaglio, Simon Shaw, Simon Easterby and Neil Back meaning 44 suddenly doesn't seem that small.. but still surprised to see the three names i saw there..

otherwise, it's the lineup we all expected.. with the New Zealand experience still being digested by O'Driscoll and co, Sir Clive prob wants all players to get a taste of it before the test matches.. love to see how Titterill goes at hooker.. weaknesses? i think Taranaki can target the wings if they have Shayne Austin and Sailosi Tagikicibau.. likewise kicking although Taranaki don't have Brock James..

Taranaki will be a similar side to the Bay, although i don't really know the players as well as the Bay, apart from Andrew Hore, Andrew Penn, Paul Tito, Chris Masoe, Scott Ireland, Gordon Slater, etc.. again, i expect them to lose but i hope like the Bay they put up some sort of competition.. the only side i expect 100 points plus is against Manawatu but only because they play in a lower tier than the other provinces..

about Dallaglio, well his tour is over.. again.. prob the unluckiest great in Lions history.. Simon Easterby has been called up.. and obviously looking at the name just shows you how great Dayglo is and how influential he is to the side.. it's a great shame not just for Lions fans but Kiwi fans as well.. hate 'im for all we want but he is a great player and we want to beat a Lions side with him.. Martin Johnson would have been great but circumstances mean he isn't available..

speaking of Martin Johnson, what a great testimonial match yesterday at Twickers.. great to see Jonah Lomu although as expected he looked rusty on his return.. he left early with an injured shoulder but i hope it's the start of a revival for the great Tongan winger..
